…and proof as to why Ashley should only make videos when she’s well rested.

While not directly related to food, I have really started to think about what kinds of products I’m using on my face, skin and hair. While we may be putting wholesome, delicious foods into our bodies, we also want to be nourishing them with natural products on the outside. I wanted to share some of my favourite products that make me feel amazing!

Living Libations, Best Skin Ever – Such an amazing product made from pure pressed plant oils. My skin feels soft, moisturized and happy when I use this product! “One bottle to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize” – love that! A little bit goes a long way and the subtle scent is beautiful. Love love love this stuff and I really believe that it helps to make your skin its best ever! Purchased at their booth at the Vegetarian Food Fair.

Peaches and Cream Ultra Moisturizer – Yummy all over body moisturizer (Details on vegan and gluten free products in their FAQ) Available at The Big Carrot or Shoppers Drug Mart

Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick – My “zapper” (which I found in the couch after I finished the video) Tea tree and juniper oils combined with calendula helps to improve your skin naturally. Available at The Big Carrot or Shoppers Drug Mart

Bare Essentials – I started with the Get Started Kit (how fitting) in fair, which gives you two shades of foundation to work with and blend. It also comes with the mineral veil, warmth, brushes and the ever-important dvd! I also recently picked up eye shadows in Queen Tiffany and Blush shades  which are really pretty and neutral and make me feel glamorous. All of their products make you feel like you’re wearing nothing on your face and give you a natural glow with great coverage. Available at Sephora and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Korres B5 and rice bran mascara – Lovely product line from Greece. The mascara contains B5 which is said to strengthen and improve the quality of your lashes. I got a whole starter set at Sephora, but this product was my absolute fav!!

There are others I could have talked about, but these are definitely at the top of my list I’m also a huge fan of natural feminine care products, like the Diva Cup. I’ve been using mine for a couple of years and it’s such an amazing products. I love not having to use tampons anymore, it’s cost effective, you can leave it in all day and I swear it reduces my cramps. I would add the Diva Cup to my top five favourite girly products because it rocks! If you’ve been thinking about giving one a try, Meghan is currently giving one away.

If you’re looking for some more ideas on natural beauty products, be sure to check out Ange’s Project Natural Glow and  Meghan also has some classes coming up on Natural Body Care – and creating your own is as natural as it comes!

As I said in the video, I’m still learning about animal-free products and would love any suggestions that you have regarding your favourite brands. What do you look for in make up, skin products and other girly goods? What are your favourite products and which do you use every day?

yes I have been rethinking about my products that I use on my face, skin, and body. Thank you for giving your likes! I prefer to use as natural as I can, currently I use coconut oil as my face washer, which also naturally moisturizes it. For make-up I use Afterglow, and so far like it, it is similar to Bare Essentials. I have slowly been researching new vegan products, like Morrocco Method Shampoo/Conditioner.

I'm also trying to switch to natural products. I love tea tree oil for my face and hair, I have this amazing tea tree shampoo that I love. I have yet to break into the natural makeup scene, so far I'm just using natural shampoos and toothpaste.

Lately I have been looking for new products so thanks for the tips! I have been thinking about getting a Diva Cup forever but now that I know it might (at least psychosomaticly) help with my cramps I think I will finally make the plunge.

Congrats on winning my contest!

Hey! sorry if this is posting twice my computer is being silly.

anyways:
1) Love your blog, the ABC's of veganism, etc! Yay Canadians. :)

2) I have been wanting to get my hands on that Living Libations stuff for a while!! I missed it at the food fair

3) coconut oil as a natural moisturizer/shave gel is probably old news to you, but my old, wise Indian Aunt recently informed me that if you rub a little into your scalp, "your hairs will stay black forever" (or, I would imagine, whatever your natural hair colour is black or otherwise)

I love, love, love Arbonne products. They are a little pricey, but I find I only need to use a little bit so they end up lasting a long time. www.arbonne.com

Thanks for doing this Ash! Natural skin care and make up is something I have been playing with for a while. I am still trying to find a natural skin care line that works with my skin and I am for SURE going to pick up that mascara! How awesome is that! I also use mineral make up. It's a different brand than you use but go mineral! :)

Quite unfortunately, most of the natural products that I've looked into use coconut oil. Which is great for most, but not for poor ol' allergic me. I like olive oil soap a lot and I use olive or vegetable oil to deep condition my hair, when it starts to look a little dry. As for makeup, the last that I actually bought was for my wedding almost three years ago!

You have such gorgeous skin, thanks for all the tips on products! I use minerals of a few different brands from Whole Foods. I also loooove that blemish stick, Burts Bees products are awesome, some have honey, so they aren't vegan, but I don't stress about honey! I can't be that strict!

awww thanks Lauren!!

While I like the Lush products, I can't go anywhere near the store because the scent alone gives me a headache!! It is way to overpowering in there and I can't concentrate on the products.

And I love all the Diva Cup love!
